The IELTS test stands for International English Language Test System, it is standardly used in Australia, UK, Canada and New Zealand; to measure English Levels.  Officially it is used by the government, for example, for immigration purposes , and also for schools and universities, to evaluate the level of English the students have.

Not all the courses demand a IELTS test for their admission, but the majority of the Universities require it. Alternatively, almost all courses including University, accept the American TOEFL test, in equivalence with the IELTS. The IELTS is composed of 4 subgroups that are: reading, writing, conversation and Comprehention. Result are measured for the average of the 4 groups.
